Free Fire became the highest-downloaded game in 2019 and has more than 150 million daily active users globally. With the Esports scene growing rapidly in Pakistan, Free Fire wanted in. In order to carry out all of its esports operations and launch its first competition, Free Fire partnered with NGES for their premium Esports and Broadcasting solutions.
Free Fire teams from Pakistan were ecstatic to see official servers launched for Pakistan, and Pakistan becoming a part of official Free Fire Leagues was no short of a feat for them.
Pakistan were new grounds for Garena, so NGES went all in to help them set up operations in the country and develop a sound presence in the mobile Esports community.
Free Fire Continental Series replaced Free Fire World Series, which was cancelled due to COVID restrictions. The tournament was played virtually for a prize pool of 52.8 million PKR.
The Free Fire Continental Series: Qualifier was the first flagship tournament by Free Fire in Pakistan. Teams from Pakistan competed against each other for a prize pool of 2 million PKR. Telenor came up as the media partner for the grand tournament.
NGES carried out the Pakistan Qualifiers for FFCS and with no examples to follow, they independently executed all the operations and live broadcasts employing equipment for smooth execution. 500+ teams registered from all across the country, which was unexpected for a tournament happening for the first time. NGES then managed qualifiers in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. This was the much-needed breakthrough for them in their pursuit of making Esports a ‘thing’ in Pakistan.
Team House of Blood won the Pakistan Qualifiers, and Team TG came up as the runner-up, securing their spots in FFCS.
NGES was in charge of broadcasting the event for the Pakistani audience with Urdu casting and managing all the players’ travel and accommodation. A Bootcamp of 2 weeks was set up for the teams to prepare and practice for the grand tournament. Unfortunately, the teams weren’t able to perform well. HOB faced elimination in the finals stage and Team TG in the Play-ins. Regardless, both teams garnered appreciation from all of Pakistan’s gaming community.

FFCS laid the foundation for Garena Free Fire to establish a strong base in mobile Esports in Pakistan. Free Fire, which was up till now played only casually with no proper scope, had now formed a dedicated wing, Free Fire Esports Pakistan.
Free Fire enthusiasts were now looking forward to the next big Esports tournament by Garena Free Fire, catering to the Pakistani user base. Mobile gamers saw this as an avenue to go big in Esports for the first time without investing significant money in building a high-end gaming PC to enter the global Esports realm.
