In the fall of 2019, NGES, in the endeavors of making Esports in Pakistan a mainstream thing in Pakistan, decided to partner with Ocean Mall Karachi, one of the biggest malls in the metropolis with great footfall, to organize a FIFA and Fortnite tournament. NGES sat with Ocean Mall to discuss the potential of this opportunity and share a mutual vision of empowering the youth with gaming and esports; Ocean Mall agreed to shake hands on this win-win deal and Ocean Mall Esports Tournament happened.
The tournament gathered all the casual and esports players across the city. Red Bull also came along to sponsor drinks for the tournament, which lifted the spirits of all the participants.
Gaming enthusiasts, as well as the general public, actively participated in the PS4 FIFA tournament. Families were present in the audience and loved the show.
NGES made all the necessary arrangements for the tournament, including the sourcing and logistics of the gaming equipment, consoles, and internet, conducting matches, and all the League Operations for the tournament. Ocean Mall offered free pan pizzas to all the participants.
The Ocean Mall Esports Tournament boasted a prize pool of 2.5 LACS PKR, a milestone for local Esports tournaments in Pakistan.
This was the first time NGES organized a mainstream tournament and brought a taste of Esports tournaments to the general public. One of the qualified players was Tugba, the only female among the lot. This was a proud moment for the gaming community, which now sees representation from both genders.
Ocean Mall was delighted with the footfall and engagement at the tournament and commended the efforts of NGES. They are enthusiastic about future partnerships with NGES and game brands to create more such events, which could empower young gamers and the esports industry of Pakistan.
