Baaz Gauntlet: An Epic Clash of Tekken 8 Titans in Lahore

Introduction

The Baaz Gauntlet, an invitational esports tournament, brought the world’s top Tekken 8 players to the HUFC Club in Lahore, Pakistan, from May 10-12, 2024. With a prize pool of 1 Million PKR, this event showcased some of the finest Tekken talent on the planet, featuring legendary players such as Arslan Ash, Joka, K-Wiss, Knee, Lowhigh, YUYU, and many more.

Star-Studded Lineup

The tournament was graced by four-time EVO champion Arslan Ash, sponsored by Twisted Minds and Red Bull. Other notable participants included Falcons Joka from the Middle East, UK’s K-Wiss, Tekken gods Knee and Lowhigh from South Korea, and Cloud 9’s YUYU from Japan. The competition saw a total of 11 Pakistani players, two South Koreans, two UK players, and one Japanese player battling it out in a high-octane Tekken showdown.

Tournament Format

The Baaz Gauntlet featured two competitive formats: Swiss and Double Elimination. During the Swiss rounds, fans witnessed intense matchups as top names like Knee, Lowhigh, K-Wiss, YUYU, and Khan were surprisingly eliminated. However, seven Pakistani players and one Pakistan-born UK player advanced to the Double Elimination stage, highlighting Pakistan’s dominant Tekken prowess on the global stage.

Unforgettable Moments

One of the tournament’s most thrilling narratives was Ahsan Ali’s remarkable comeback against Hafiz Adeel in the Winners Bracket. Despite a tough start, Ahsan Ali fought his way to the Grand Final by winning the Losers Final against Arslan Ash.

In an extraordinary performance, controller player Falcons Joka went undefeated in the Double Elimination matches, showcasing his exceptional skills and strategic gameplay.
