Striving for the growth of Esports in Pakistan, it was crucial to target the students of the country. That is when NGES started organizing tournaments in schools, colleges, and universities across the country, namely IBA, Habib University, IU, and others. Among these, NGES organized the biggest tournament at Alpha College, one of Karachi’s most distinguished A-level colleges.
NGES sat with the faculty at Alpha College to discuss this opportunity’s potential and empower young students to engage in Esports, which is a legitimate career all around the world, and how the Esports industry is exponentially progressing. Alpha College admired NGES’ vision for the Esports ecosystem in Pakistan after the discussion and shook hands on organizing an inter-campus Esports tournament.
The students were thrilled to see Esports finally penetrating institutions and an opportunity to showcase their gaming skills. NGES made all the necessary arrangements for the tournament, including the sourcing and logistics of the gaming equipment, consoles, and internet, conducting matches, and all the League Operations for the tournament.
Students and teachers actively competed in fierce battles against each other in video game titles like FIFA, Tekken, and PUBG tournaments which hyped up the audience as they cheered for their friends and teachers as for the first time, the students went head to head against their teachers in a setting which would not be getting them detention.
The engagement and potential of students witnessed at the Alpha College Inter-school Esports Competition led Alpha College to take concrete steps for the exposure of Esports to their students and went on to inaugurate a dedicated Gaming Zone on the campus for their students to engage in gaming, and to be able to consider it as a real career path. This truly is an exemplary move that should be adopted at institutions across the country to promote the Esports culture among the youth.
Esports in Pakistan is seeing exponential progress, with the gaming revenue seeing almost a 2x growth since 2017. Moreover, the feats of national talents like Sumail Hassan and Arsalan have put Pakistan on the map in the Global Esports scene. The rise of Esports in Pakistan heavily depends on the youth who have all the potential to go out there and make a name for themselves and take Pakistan forward in this growing industry.
NGES received great appreciation from the students and the faculty for this initiative and was open to having more such events at their college.
